
Steve Vandenberg
Steve Vandenberg is an Advanced Compliance Global Black Belt with Microsoft Security Solutions Area. In this role, Steve enables his clients in their digital transformation strategy using the full range of Microsoft’s privacy, security, compliance and insider threat detection capabilities. He’s also responsible for giving these clients a voice by providing guidance to Microsoft product groups to enhance their compliance and security solutions.
Steve was a Cybersecurity Architect with Microsoft before taking on his current role.
He is an expert in security for IT, industrial control systems, critical infrastructure, and cloud, covering frameworks, standards-based assessment, compliance management, penetration testing, vulnerability management, incident response, and security architecture.
Steve led the security teams at BC Hydro responsible for the cybersecurity of power generation plants and Smart Meter Infrastructure.
He worked in the US Government focusing on critical infrastructure protection, information security and regional security issues.
Steve is a frequent speaker on cybersecurity and compliance including at the RSA Security Conference, Microsoft Executive Briefing Center, BSides, Hydrovision and a range of security and industry conferences.
He received a BS in Engineering from Columbia University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. Steve holds a Professional Engineer’s license, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Certified Information Privacy Professional, Certified Cloud Security Professional and Certified Information Systems Security Professional, (CISSP) among his other certifications.
